Black-eyed Susan - ***SOLD***
Size: 6" x 6"
I am always on the hunt for interesting seed pods and flower heads. In the fall especially, I go on drives just to find this type of inspiration. I collect them and bring them home where they sit in my studio in various states of decay until I photograph them.
I took some of these mysterious pods to my social media channels ask for help in determining what they actually were. It got me thinking about how we source and trust information and the series was born from that curiosity. I have always been intrigued by the translucent and preservative qualities of beeswax and the encaustic medium seemed like a natural fit for my image transfer and layering style.
This one of a kind piece arrives ready to hang and although sweet on its own, looks wonderful mixed and matched with other little botanicals from this series.
